PM-KUSUM Reaches 9,466 MW Solar Capacity, Benefiting Over 19 Lakh Farmers Nationwide
Dec 10, 2025
India’s PM-KUSUM scheme has achieved a cumulative installed capacity of 9,466 MW, with total financial assistance of Rs7,089 crore released as of 31 October 2025. The demand-driven program is active across all States and Union Territories—including Jharkhand—and is open to individual farmers, farmer collectives, FPOs, WUAs, and PACS. The update was provided by Minister of State Shripad Yesso Naik in a written response in the Rajya Sabha.
So far, the initiative has supported 19,02,827 beneficiaries across the country. Under Component-A, 10,000 MW of grid-connected solar capacity has been sanctioned, out of which 653.49 MW has been commissioned. Component-B has sanctioned 12.72 lakh standalone solar pumps, with 9.17 lakh already installed. Under Component-C, 60,828 individual pump solarisation (IPS) units and 35.61 lakh feeder-level solarisation (FLS) systems have been sanctioned, with 9.84 lakh systems commissioned to date.
Jharkhand has shown strong adoption under decentralised components, particularly Component-B. The state has sanctioned 52,985 standalone solar pumps and installed 41,467 of them. However, no capacity has yet been commissioned in Jharkhand under Component-A, and no installations have been reported under Component-C. The total number of beneficiaries in the state stands at 41,467, highlighting strong demand for off-grid solar irrigation solutions among farmers.
The Minister added that the government is taking several measures to improve uptake and streamline access to PM-KUSUM. Revised guidelines issued on 17 January 2024 aim to simplify processes, prioritise small and marginal farmers, and encourage micro-irrigation practices. To support implementation, the Ministry is also conducting awareness drives, capacity-building workshops, and regular review meetings with state agencies.
