Powertrac Group Commits Rs600 Crore to Set Up 1,000 MWh Battery Storage Manufacturing Unit in India
Feb 16, 2026
Powertrac Group has unveiled plans to invest Rs 600 crore in establishing a containerized Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing plant in India. The proposed facility will have an annual production capacity of 1,000 MWh and represents a significant move in the company’s expansion into advanced energy storage and integrated clean energy infrastructure.
The upcoming plant will manufacture lithium iron phosphate (LFP)-based battery packs, while also developing and integrating in-house Battery Management Systems (BMS). In addition, it will produce modular, containerized grid-scale BESS units with capacities ranging from 1 MWh to 5 MWh. The facility is also expected to support solar-plus-storage hybrid projects, enhancing the reliability and dispatchability of renewable power.
This investment forms part of Powertrac Group’s long-term strategy to deepen its footprint across the renewable energy value chain and address the rising demand for storage-backed clean energy projects across India. The company intends to serve both utility-scale developers and commercial and industrial (C&I) consumers through the new manufacturing capacity.
Managing Director Divyarajsinh Zala stated that the initiative aligns with the group’s target of achieving 1 GW of operational independent power producer (IPP) capacity by 2030. He emphasized that the new facility will contribute significantly to strengthening India’s transition toward dependable and sustainable energy systems.
With this expansion, Powertrac Group aims to establish itself as a fully integrated player in the solar and energy storage market, focusing on domestic manufacturing, advanced battery solutions, and scalable hybrid energy deployments.
