Rajasthan Unveils India’s Largest Solar Park with Battery Storage in Bikaner

Nov 10, 2025

The Rajasthan government has officially launched the Pugal Solar Park in Bikaner, marking the beginning of what is set to become India’s largest integrated solar power and battery storage facility. The project combines 2,450 MW of solar generation capacity with a 5,000 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), enabling reliable, round-the-clock power supply for consumers across the state.

Unveiled during an investor meeting in Jaipur on Friday, the project has already generated significant industry interest due to its scale, technological advancement, and investment potential. Spread across 4,353 hectares of government-leased land in Pugal tehsil, Bikaner district, the park is designed to enhance grid stability and meet peak-hour power demands efficiently.

Investment and Infrastructure

According to Energy Minister Heeralal Nagar, the Pugal Solar Park is expected to attract over Rs18,000 crore in investments. Developed by Rajasthan Solar Park Development Company Ltd. (RSDCL), a subsidiary of Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Ltd. (RRECL), the project will operate under a plug-and-play model—offering investors access to pre-developed civil and electrical infrastructure, assured grid connectivity, and government-leased land.

“This ambitious project reflects Rajasthan’s commitment to becoming a clean energy leader by combining large-scale solar generation with advanced storage technology,” Nagar said, highlighting the park’s potential to transform the state’s renewable energy landscape.

Competitive Tariff Bidding to Begin Soon

The government has also announced that a tariff-based competitive bidding process for the project will be launched on November 28, 2025, inviting private developers and investors to participate in the next phase of development.

Ajitabh Sharma, Principal Secretary (Energy), added that the Pugal Solar Park will play a pivotal role in strengthening Rajasthan’s renewable energy infrastructure while supporting India’s broader energy transition and carbon reduction goals.
