RAYZON Solar, UNSW Launch India–Australia Collaboration to Address UV Degradation in TOPCon Cells
Nov 29, 2025
A joint initiative between RAYZON Solar and the University of New South Wales (UNSW) has been launched to investigate UV-induced degradation in TOPCon solar cells and develop strategies to minimize its impact.
The partnership falls under the Technology Commercialisation Challenge (TCC), a program created to strengthen India–Australia technological cooperation, diversify renewable energy supply chains, and advance the clean-energy transition. TCC operates as a central component of the India–Australia Renewable Energy Partnership, backed by both governments.
Funded by Australia’s Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, the program is delivered by CSIRO, the country’s national science agency. As part of the project, RAYZON Solar recently hosted a team from UNSW — Professor Bram Hoex, Dr. Michael Nielsen, and Mark Sterbic — for laboratory and production line visits, followed by in-depth discussions on project goals, timelines, and expected outcomes.
“This collaboration demonstrates how bilateral engagement can enhance supply-chain resilience, accelerate the adoption of new technologies, and contribute to India’s clean-energy goals under TCC,” said Amit Barve, CEO of RAYZON Solar Ltd.
According to the company, the initiative has the potential to expand significantly, combining UNSW’s research strengths, CSIRO’s facilitation under Dave Fleming, and RAYZON Solar’s advanced laboratory and manufacturing capabilities. The outcome for industry stakeholders would be more durable, high-performance solar modules that align with global standards.
