SAEL Brings 1 GWp Solar Capacity Online at Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Gujarat
Jan 23, 2026
SAEL Industries has commissioned a 1 GWp solar power project, equivalent to 800 MW of capacity, at the Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Gujarat. The project has been developed through SAEL’s subsidiaries, SAEL Solar P4 Pvt. Ltd. and SAEL Solar P5 Pvt. Ltd., each contributing 500 MWp of installed capacity.
The newly commissioned projects are supported by 25-year power purchase agreements with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. (GUVNL), providing long-term revenue visibility and operational stability.
The solar installations use more than 15 lakh TOPCon bifacial modules, with over 60 percent of the modules assembled at SAEL’s manufacturing facilities in Punjab and Rajasthan. This aligns with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative and strengthens domestic solar manufacturing capabilities.
Commenting on the milestone, Laxit Awla, CEO and Executive Director of SAEL Industries, said that the Khavda Renewable Energy Park reflects the Prime Minister’s vision to establish India as a global renewable energy powerhouse. He noted that developing large-scale clean energy infrastructure in Gujarat’s challenging terrain will help reduce dependence on conventional power sources, generate green employment, and support India’s non-fossil fuel capacity targets for 2030.
Awla added that the commissioning of the 1 GWp project marks an important contribution to India’s solar growth journey, with SAEL committed to deploying advanced technologies and continuing to add value across the clean energy ecosystem.
According to the company, the project spans nearly 3,600 acres near India’s western border and highlights SAEL’s execution and engineering capabilities in demanding site conditions. The terrain presents challenges such as saline soil and seasonal flooding, with parts of the site submerged by nearly one metre during peak monsoon periods.
