Sidara Completes Acquisition of Wood plc to Expand Global Energy and Engineering Capabilities
Mar 12, 2026
Sidara has completed the acquisition of Wood plc, marking a major strategic step in strengthening its global presence across the energy, materials, and infrastructure sectors.
The acquisition significantly advances Sidara’s long-term strategy to expand its global energy capabilities. Despite becoming part of the group, Wood will retain its existing brand identity and continue operating as a standalone business, while benefiting from Sidara’s scale and long-term owner-operator approach.
According to the company, integrating Wood’s technical expertise—including capabilities in digital technologies, engineering consulting, and decarbonisation solutions—will help position the combined organisation at the forefront of the evolving global energy landscape. The collaboration aims to support energy security initiatives while advancing the transition toward cleaner and more sustainable energy systems.
Sidara will continue operating through its five-pillar organisational structure, which includes multidisciplinary engineering firm Dar, energy and materials specialist Wood, architecture and design firm Perkins&Will, infrastructure consultancy TYLin, and project management and advisory firm Currie & Brown.
This integrated platform enables the group to support clients worldwide—including energy companies, technology firms, governments, and infrastructure developers—across the entire lifecycle of complex projects, from planning and design to project management, delivery, and operations.
Following the acquisition, Sidara’s global workforce will exceed 55,000 professionals, with combined annual revenues surpassing USD 8.5 billion. The group’s revenue distribution will include approximately 40 percent from North America, while Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Asia-Pacific regions each contribute around 20 percent.
Commenting on the development, Talal Shair described the acquisition as the most ambitious venture in the company’s history. He noted that the partnership will strengthen Sidara’s strategy to expand its energy and materials sector capabilities while addressing global challenges such as energy transition and sustainable supply of critical raw materials.
The integration of Sidara and Wood is expected to create a stronger global platform capable of delivering innovative engineering, consulting, and sustainability solutions across rapidly evolving energy and infrastructure markets.
