SJVN’s 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Project Crosses 1 Billion Units Generation Milestone
Mar 20, 2026
SJVN has reached a key milestone at its 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project, successfully generating over 1 billion units (BU) of electricity as of March 20, 2026. The achievement highlights the company’s growing contribution to India’s clean energy transition and its ability to execute large-scale renewable projects efficiently.
Located in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district, the project is being developed through SJVN Green Energy (SGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the company. It has been implemented under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s CPSU Scheme (Phase II, Tranche III). The foundation stone was laid in January 2023, and the project achieved commercial operations in December 2025.
In its first year, the project is expected to generate around 2,454.55 million units (MU) of electricity, with an estimated cumulative output of nearly 56 billion units over a 25-year lifespan. The project is also projected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 2.78 million tonnes, supporting long-term environmental sustainability goals.
The power generated will be supplied to multiple states, including Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir, at a competitively determined tariff of Rs2.57 per unit, ensuring affordability alongside clean energy delivery.
SJVN’s leadership stated that this milestone reflects the company’s technical expertise and operational strength in delivering utility-scale solar projects. They also emphasised the organisation’s continued focus on expanding its renewable energy portfolio in line with India’s broader goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity.
The project stands as an example of large-scale solar deployment, demonstrating efficiency in execution, early generation achievements, and meaningful environmental impact.
