Solidus Techno Power Commissions Punjab’s First Captive Open Access Solar Project
Dec 29, 2025
Solidus Techno Power Pvt. Ltd. has successfully commissioned Punjab’s first captive open access solar power project, a 37.5 MW facility located in Muktsar Sahib district, marking a major milestone in the state’s renewable energy journey.
The project is expected to generate approximately 52 million units of electricity annually, translating into a reduction of nearly 50,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year. The commissioning underscores the growing role of open access solar projects in meeting industrial energy demand while supporting India’s decarbonization goals.
With this development, Solidus Techno Power further strengthens its position in the state’s clean energy landscape. The company currently commands more than an 80% share of Punjab’s open access renewable energy market, highlighting its leadership in enabling large-scale adoption of solar power by commercial and industrial consumers.
Company officials noted that the Muktsar Sahib project represents the first step in a broader renewable energy roadmap. Solidus Techno Power plans to expand its portfolio with higher-capacity projects in the coming years, reinforcing its role as a key contributor to India’s energy transition.
As India accelerates efforts to increase renewable energy capacity and reduce dependence on fossil fuels, projects such as this captive open access solar plant are expected to play a critical role. Solidus Techno Power stated that it remains committed to driving sustainable growth and ensuring that clean energy becomes a central pillar of the country’s development strategy.
