TotalEnergies and Aljomaih Secure 400 MW Solar Power Project in Saudi Arabia

Nov 10, 2025

TotalEnergies and Aljomaih Energy & Water (AEW) have been awarded the contract to develop a 400 MW solar photovoltaic project in As Sufun, Saudi Arabia, under the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP) — a key component of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 initiative.

The consortium, comprising France’s TotalEnergies and Saudi Arabia’s AEW, received the award from the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC). The partnership will develop, construct, and operate the solar facility, which will deliver clean energy to over 68,400 households once operational in 2027. Power generated from the project will be sold to SPPC through a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

This large-scale development supports Saudi Arabia’s national goal of reducing dependence on liquid fuels and increasing renewable energy’s contribution to as much as 50% of the energy mix by 2030.

Olivier Jouny, Senior Vice President for Renewables at TotalEnergies, said, “We are delighted to partner with Aljomaih Energy and Water Co. in advancing Saudi Arabia’s renewable ambitions. This achievement marks our second project under the NREP and strengthens our commitment to the Kingdom’s clean energy transition.”

Echoing the sentiment, Ibrahim Aljomaih, Chairman of AEW, stated, “This milestone demonstrates our dedication to the Saudi Green Initiative and Vision 2030. By combining strong partnerships with local expertise, we are proud to help drive the nation’s sustainable energy future.”

The As Sufun Solar PV Project, situated in the Hail region, adds to TotalEnergies’ expanding renewable portfolio in Saudi Arabia, which already includes the 119 MW Wadi Al Dawasir solar plant and the 300 MW Rabigh 2 project currently under development.
