Trontek Plans to Add 500+ Jobs by FY27 to Expand Battery Manufacturing and R&D

Mar 10, 2026

Trontek has announced plans to create more than 500 new jobs by FY27 as it expands its manufacturing capacity and research capabilities. The move aims to support the growing demand for lithium-ion batteries across sectors such as electric mobility, rooftop solar, and distributed energy storage systems in India.

With the planned hiring, Trontek’s workforce is expected to grow from 967 employees to nearly 1,400, marking one of the largest recruitment drives in the company’s 20-year history. Most of the new positions will be in production, battery engineering, quality systems, research and development, logistics, and service operations.

The expansion comes as lithium-ion battery adoption accelerates in India, particularly in electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, residential solar installations, and decentralized energy storage solutions. These sectors are rapidly transforming the country’s clean energy and mobility ecosystem.

According to Samrath S. Kochar, the company’s hiring plan reflects strong long-term growth prospects in India’s battery industry. He noted that as demand increases across electric mobility and home energy storage, companies with strong engineering expertise and robust manufacturing capabilities will gain a competitive advantage.

A major portion of the recruitment will focus on strengthening Trontek’s in-house research and development teams. The company intends to invest in areas such as Battery Management Systems (BMS), thermal safety engineering, lifecycle optimization, and product testing tailored to Indian operating conditions.

Kochar emphasized that innovation in battery technology now extends beyond chemistry. He said that intelligent system design, safety architecture, and long-term performance reliability are becoming critical factors for success in the global lithium-ion market.

In addition to expanding production and R&D, Trontek plans to introduce structured technical training programs to build specialized skills in lithium-ion battery assembly, safety compliance, electronics integration, and energy storage technologies. These initiatives aim to develop a future-ready workforce aligned with India’s growing advanced manufacturing sector.

Industry experts expect strong growth in lithium-ion battery demand in India over the next five years, driven by rising electric vehicle adoption, renewable energy integration, and decentralized power systems. Companies capable of combining advanced engineering with scalable manufacturing capacity are likely to play a key role in shaping this expanding market.

Through this expansion, Trontek aims to strengthen domestic battery manufacturing capabilities, enhance supply chain resilience, and generate high-quality employment opportunities in one of India’s fastest-growing clean technology sectors.
