TrueRE Oriana Power Secures EPC Deal for DVC’s 234 MW Floating Solar Project at Maithon Dam
Mar 14, 2026
TrueRE Oriana Power has been awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract by the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) for a 234 MW grid-connected floating solar project. The facility will be developed on the reservoir of the Maithon Dam in Jharkhand.
The project carries an estimated value of about Rs 11.81 billion (approximately $128.59 million) and is scheduled to be completed within 18 months. DVC had originally issued the tender for the project in May 2025. Once commissioned, the floating solar installation is expected to generate nearly 500 million kWh of electricity annually.
Under the contract, TrueRE Oriana Power will handle the complete scope of work, including design, engineering, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning of the solar facility. The company will also supervise the supply of equipment and materials, conduct inspections and testing at manufacturing sites, and execute installation along with associated civil works.
In addition, the project requires bathymetric, geotechnical, and hydrographic surveys to support development activities. The developer will also be responsible for obtaining all necessary permits and approvals, as well as providing comprehensive operation and maintenance services for a period of 10 years.
The floating solar plant will be designed for an operational lifespan of 25 years and must achieve a minimum annual capacity utilization factor (CUF) of 24.42%. Power generated from the project will be transmitted via a suitably sized 33 kV cross-linked polyethylene AC cable, terminating at the H-pole of the 33 kV switchyard.
The installation will utilize high-efficiency solar modules—such as monocrystalline, Mono PERC, or TOPCon—with a minimum capacity of 550 Wp. These modules must be sourced from suppliers listed under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers. Additionally, the project must maintain a performance ratio of 83.79% at the 33 kV termination point of DVC’s switchyard, while the modules will be insured for 25 years for at least 6% of the total order value.
TrueRE Oriana Power currently has around 1 GW of solar projects either commissioned or under construction. The company has also secured contracts for approximately 800 MWh of battery energy storage projects and maintains a development pipeline of nearly 1 GWh.
