Turkey’s First Grid-Connected Floating Solar Plant Begins Operation

Feb 09, 2025

Turkey has achieved a milestone in renewable energy with the launch of its first grid-connected floating solar power plant, the Mavi Göl ASK? Floating Solar Project in Ankara. Developed by ASUNIM, the project has a capacity of 991.76 kWp / 900 kWe and has officially begun generating electricity, marking a pioneering step in floating solar technology.

This innovative project supports Turkey’s clean energy goals by utilizing water surfaces for solar power generation, reducing land use while optimizing energy production. The floating solar panels also help minimize water evaporation, making them an eco-friendly solution for sustainable energy.

The installation and commissioning of the system were successfully completed by ASUNIM, while panel cleaning was handled by its subsidiary, MAXIMA Enerji.
