UN Women India’s Suhela Khan Highlights Women’s Leadership in Clean Energy at NSEFI Women in Energy Summit

Ms. Suhela Khan, Country Programme Manager – Women’s Economic Empowerment at UN Women India, addressed industry stakeholders at the 2nd Women in Energy Summit: “Catalysing a Just Energy Transition,” organized by the National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI).
The summit brought together women professionals from across the renewable energy sector to discuss pathways for inclusive growth and leadership in India’s clean energy transition. The event was supported by BSW – Bundesverband Solarwirtschaft e.V., sequa gGmbH, and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
During her address, Ms. Khan highlighted that India’s rapidly expanding clean energy sector presents a significant opportunity to advance women’s entrepreneurship and leadership. She noted that increasing policy attention and investment in renewable energy can serve as a catalyst for greater economic participation by women.
Ms. Khan emphasized the importance of strengthening women’s engagement in the renewable energy ecosystem through enhanced access to technology, finance, markets, and professional networks. She also underscored the need to build strong and visible role models within the sector to inspire greater participation and long-term leadership among women.
The summit focused on promoting a just and inclusive energy transition, reinforcing the role of gender equity as a key pillar in achieving sustainable and resilient energy systems in India.
