Waaree Energies Leads India’s ALMM Rankings with Over 20 GW of Domestic Module Capacity
Dec 31, 2025
Waaree Energies Ltd. has secured the top position among India’s solar module manufacturers listed under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s (MNRE) Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM), after its total domestic manufacturing capacity surpassed the 20 GW milestone.
According to MNRE’s latest ALMM notification, Waaree’s Chikhli facility in Gujarat has received approval for 16.444 GW of solar module production. This addition brings the company’s total India-based module manufacturing capacity, including output from its Indosolar operations, to approximately 20.17 GW—making Waaree the country’s largest ALMM-approved manufacturer.
The updated ALMM list also includes several high-efficiency module technologies produced at the Chikhli plant. These include G12R TOPCon, G12 TOPCon, and G12 heterojunction (HJT) modules, underscoring Waaree’s growing footprint in next-generation photovoltaic solutions. The newly approved products are designed to address requirements across utility-scale projects, commercial and industrial (C&I) applications, and rooftop solar installations.
Commenting on the achievement, Sunil Rathi, Executive Director of the Waaree Group, said the expanded ALMM approvals highlight the company’s commitment to scaling domestic manufacturing while advancing technology capabilities. He noted that the inclusion of TOPCon and HJT modules would support evolving project specifications and improve supply reliability for developers and policymakers.
The milestone comes at a time when India is rapidly expanding its solar deployment to meet its target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. Strengthening domestic manufacturing remains a central pillar of this strategy, aimed at enhancing energy security, stabilizing costs, and ensuring consistent quality standards.
Waaree Energies currently operates a global solar PV module manufacturing capacity of about 22.77 GW. This includes 20.17 GW of solar cell and module capacity in India and 2.6 GW in the United States. The company maintains a presence in over 25 international markets, with business interests spanning solar manufacturing, EPC services, green hydrogen, battery energy storage systems, and broader renewable energy infrastructure.
