Waaree Energies Secures 210 MW DCR Module Order in India, Signs 2 GW Multi-Year Supply Deal in the US
Jan 22, 2026
Mumbai-based solar manufacturer Waaree Energies has won new solar module supply contracts in both the Indian and US markets, reinforcing its position across domestic and international solar manufacturing value chains.
In India, the company has received an order to supply 210 MW of Domestic Content Requirement (DCR)-compliant solar modules to a renewable energy developer. The order is scheduled for execution during FY 2026–27, indicating near-term demand linked to government-backed or regulated solar projects.
Separately, Waaree’s wholly owned subsidiary, Waaree Solar Americas, has secured a 2 GW solar module supply contract from a US-based developer and owner-operator of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects. The US contract is planned for phased supply between 2028 and 2030, reflecting a long-term procurement pipeline rather than a single standalone project.
Domestic and Overseas Order Timelines
While the 210 MW Indian order is aligned with immediate project execution requirements in FY27, the 2 GW US contract spans multiple years, supporting the developer’s utility-scale solar and storage expansion plans through the end of the decade. DCR-compliant modules supplied under the Indian contract will meet eligibility requirements for projects supported by government tenders and regulated frameworks.
Manufacturing Capacity and Expansion
Waaree Energies currently operates a global solar module manufacturing capacity of 22.3 GW, comprising 19.7 GW in India and 2.6 GW in the United States. The company also has 5.4 GW of solar cell manufacturing capacity, located at its facility in Chikli, Gujarat.
India added 44.2 GW of solar module capacity and 7.5 GW of solar cell capacity in the first half of 2025, according to Mercom India Research’s State of Solar PV Manufacturing in India 1H 2025 report. These additions were largely driven by strong demand from a 186 GW utility-scale project pipeline expected between 2025 and 2027, along with policy-led requirements for ALMM- and DCR-compliant modules.
Recent Orders and Market Momentum
Recently, Waaree Energies also received a 1.5 GW domestic module supply order from an Indian power generation, transmission, and distribution company. That contract includes 1 GW of DCR-compliant modules and 500 MW of non-DCR modules, reflecting demand across both regulated and open-market projects.
Earlier, Waaree Solar Americas had secured a 288 MW solar module order from Sabanc? Renewables, a utility-scale renewable energy developer operating in Texas, US.
The latest contracts underline Waaree Energies’ growing presence across India’s policy-driven domestic solar market and the long-term utility-scale solar expansion underway in the United States.
