Websol Receives Andhra Pradesh Government Clearance for 4 GW Solar Manufacturing Project at Naidupeta

Jan 12, 2026

Websol Energy System, a Kolkata-based manufacturer of solar cells and modules, has received formal approval from the Government of Andhra Pradesh for its proposed greenfield 4 GW solar cell and 4 GW solar module manufacturing facility at MPSEZ, Naidupeta, in the Tirupati district.

The approval was granted through a government order issued by the state’s Industries and Commerce Department, following the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) on November 15, 2025, the company said in a statement.

As part of the approval, the Andhra Pradesh government has extended a comprehensive incentive package to support the project. The incentives include land allotment support, fixed capital investment subsidy, power tariff reimbursement, exemption from electricity duty, subsidies on industrial water charges, and waivers on stamp duty and registration fees.

Commenting on the development, Sohan Lal Agarwal, Managing Director of Websol Energy System, said the approval aligns with India’s renewable energy growth objectives and the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. He noted that Andhra Pradesh’s supportive industrial environment offers a strong foundation for executing Websol’s planned expansion, adding that the company aims to build 4 GW of solar cell capacity and 4 GW of solar module capacity at the site. Agarwal added that Websol will continue to keep stakeholders informed as the project progresses.

In addition to the manufacturing facility, Websol plans to develop a 100 MW captive solar power plant as part of the project. The captive plant will ensure a reliable supply of renewable energy for the facility while delivering operational cost efficiencies over the long term.
